Missionary Catechesis a new book by Dr. Barnes Mawrie SDB, was released by V. Rev. Pascual Chavez, Rector Major of the Salesian Congregation, on 9th Nov 2009 on the occasion of his visitation to the Province of Guwahati. The book is a timely arrival especially in a country like India where catechesis has to adapt itself to the plurality of reality. The book is the result of a many years of research and experience of the author, who holds a doctorate in Catechetics from Salesian Pontifical University, Rome.
Dr. Sebastian Karotemprel, a noted theologian in the Church has this to say about the book "The book is obviously intended to be a manual of Missionary Catechesis for priests, religious, catechists. It is certainly an invaluable guide for the training of catechists and for all involved in the work of catechesis".

Good day Fr. Barnes.
ReplyDeleteI am Erika BolaƱos from the Philippines and I am currently writing my dissertation on Missionary Catechesis particularly Paul as a model of Missionary Catechesis. I am a volunteer catechist in different parts of the country and it is my passion to teach and share Jesus especially to catechists in the different provinces by helping them in their formation and training.
I understand that there are hardly references on what missionary catechesis is and most of my panel members do not have much idea on it. While i was searching the internet I came across your name and your book. Unfortunately it is not available online and in local book stores. How may I get a copy? It will surely help me in my studies (Ph.D Theology in University of Santo Tomas).
And if it is not too much to ask, can you enrich my knowledge o missionary catechesis? What ever help/knowledge you may share with me will greatly help me and the local church in the Philippines of which i am serving.
God bless you.
